TV Show: Chuck: Chuck vs. The Sandworm

Posted by BenSpark on October 30, 2007

I am loving the episodes of Chuck and mostly it is the Morgan Factor. At first Morgan wore on me but through the subsequent episodes I can see why Morgan and Chuck are such good friends.

Chuck is too nice. He ends up almost getting himself killed in many episodes because he is naive. I like that he hasn’t become cynical but come on, you gotta wise up one of these days Chuck. Chuck’s eager to help out a guy who claims he’s never seen a Bond movie but Sarah has saved his bacon so many times and he still doesn’t trust her, that is that about?

I do like that Sarah did the whole Princess Leia thing for Chuck. The Everygeek fantasy. It just is. And I liked that she not only made him the fake photo but did took a real photo as well. Although they certainly would have benefited from an XShot to get a much better photo. But I digress.

Watching Morgan play Guitar hero and seeing Guitar Hero III everywhere including for the Wii makes me want to rush out and buy it. But I am not sure I’m going to like it.
Is it worth the purchase?

In the end Chuck apologizes and makes things right. I’m not sure how long he’s going to get away with that.

Some great spots: Captain Awesome giving Morgan man lessons. The guitar Hero Scene, The karate kid bandanna during the crisper drawer eating scene.

TV Show: Cavemen: The Mascot

Posted by BenSpark on October 29, 2007

So Nick gets a job as a substitute teacher at a high school. The high school has a mascot that is a caveman and their team name is the savages. This offends Nick very much. He gets offended very easily and he ends up beating the mascot only to find out that inside the costume is a girl. So then everyone hates him.

Andy gets sucked up into some intrigue with Leslie, the real estate agent in the building. I didn’t realize that Leslie was Karen’s (Joel’s girlfriend) mother. Anyway she cannot tell any of the cavemen apart so she gets Andy to work for her to move some money around because apparently Andy is an accountant and a drum major. Later Joel is mistaken for Andy and even after that Nick is mistaken for Andy. Nick uses this to get himself enough money for a scooter. Nick has no soul.

The show is interesting because like the much better show Dinosaurs this one makes fun of stereotypes by pointing out how silly they are. I’ve been enjoying this show as a guilty pleasure.

TV Show: Scrubs: My Own Worst Enemy

Posted by BenSpark on October 29, 2007

J.D. and Elliott did not give in to their temptations in this episode. Excellent. However they are still in bad positions. Elliott at least does something about her issues and breaks off the engagement with Keith. She calls off the wedding and Keith is obviously upset. I think that the writers are setting us up for a big J.D. and Elliott relationship resolution sometime later in the season. And they better do something because this is the last season.

So what will happen this season. Will each bit part character get more spotlight time. Will Kim die and thus leave J.D. with the baby and also and easy out to get back with Elliott. Will we see more of bite sized intern and Snoop Dog Attending? Will Cox get to give a really good Coxian rant this season. What about Jordan, the Cox kids, and baby Izzy? They weren’t even mentioned.

With only 17 more episodes to go before this show is done I hope that things are resolved in a way that only Scrubs can deliver.

TV Show: How I Met Your Mother: How I Met Everyone Else

Posted by BenSpark on October 29, 2007

This episode has to be one of my favorites of the season because it did all that fun time shifting that HIMYM is known for. I love seeing Ted and Marshall in the future as well as in the past. I also caught another hint toward Barney and Robin getting together. I know he gave her that welcome mat and I think that there is something between them. That is going to be a big reveal sometime in this show. It has to be. I guess because I want it to be. And the fact that Robin so vehemently denied that they were a couple means to me that the lady doth protest too much.

Ted meeting Marshall was a riot and substituting sandwiches for joints was a good way for Ted to tell the story to his kids. I really liked how the story of Marshall and Lily met was so idealized that when you learn the full truth of it you have to laugh. Lily certainly was not a fashion plate back in college not even a wholesale fashion plate. That outfit was one that even Willow wouldn’t have worn. And I don’t think it was goth, it was more grunge, but maybe that was just me.

This episode did keep us hooked with the final bit while future Marshall, Lily, and Ted shared a “sandwich” and Ted said “Where is my wife?” Where is Ted’s wife, are we going to finally meet her this year? With the show being very careful about time lines I am wondering how much longer we are going to be able to hold out before the wife is introduced so that the kids are old enough in the future.

And speaking of the future I looked at the Slap Bet countdown and we have 3 more weeks to wait for the next slap. I thought it was coming sooner. Oh well.

TV Show: Life : The Fallen Woman

Posted by BenSpark on October 29, 2007

There was an obvious double meaning to this episode. A woman did fall from a window onto a car while dressed as an angel. Also Charlie’s lawyer is running off and her life is falling apart. She loves Charlie but he won’t have anything to do with her romantically because she is married. Danni is also a fallen woman because of her past which is brought painfully into the present by Roman, the devil himself.

Crews and Danni find themselves chasing down a killer who is untouchable. He is a Russian gangster who is on the government payroll as an informant. Roman also gives Charlie a new avenue to explore in solving his frame up. This was a very interesting episode. No one seems to intimidate Charlie and I like that. He has this naive way about him that makes people let down their guard a bit so he can get better information. I like it.

I loved the interaction between Crews and Danni in the car with the little dashboard angel. It was very cute. Crews and Danni also seem to be bonding more and that is a good sign. I like their dynamic.

TV Show: The Office: Local Ad

Posted by BenSpark on October 26, 2007

Last night’s episode of The Office marks the return to 1/2 hour episodes. I have to say, I welcome the return of the 1/2 hour. Before I get all my fellow Office fans upset with me, let me explain. The hour long episodes were too long, an over sized episode once in a while is perfectly fine, in fact it is a treat. But like many treats too much of a good thing can be detrimental. Plus it was just too much Michael Scott.

The season has been good thus far but I love, love loved the commercial that the Scranton Office put together and I love that Jim asked the bartender to put the DVD in the DVD player. That was a very decent thing for him to do. Jim, while still a goof, is showing more potential for compassion to his co-workers and their craziness. Sure he told everyone not to tell Andy the end of the Kit-Kat commercial, which was a riot. But Jim is taking and interest in being kinder to Dwight and he does think about the feelings of others.

I loved the animation that Pam put together and I like how she is having these little triumphs each episode. Michael still puts her down without even realizing it but she stays positive.

It was a good episode with some really funny laugh out loud moments to it.

Check out what TV Squad had to say about the episode.

Heading to Vegas for Blog World Expo…

Posted by BenSpark on October 24, 2007

In two weeks I will be heading to Las Vegas for Blog World Expo. I cannot wait to go and have a great time there. One place that I am hoping to get a chance to visit while I am there is Caesars Palace. I have head about this place on many TV shows and books and whatnot and I want to see it firsthand. I think that was the place that Joey Tribiani worked at when he moved to Vegas during Friends. I’m pretty sure that was the place. Either way I still and to drop by the casino for a visit while at Blog World Expo.

You too can rate Shrute Farms on Trip advisor

Posted by BenSpark on October 24, 2007

During last week’s episode of The Office we were introduced to Shrute Farms as an agro-tourism spot and bed and breakfast. We’ve been to the farm once before when Dwight took Ryan under his wing and subjected him to a bunch of trials. This time however Shrute Farms is a kinder gentler place filled with the magic of beets.

Trip Advisor now has a listing for Shrute Farms and there are 231 reviews so far. You can add your own.

This is the attention to detail that TV shows need and The Office is great for that. This week we will see the Dunder-Mifflen infinity commercial. The show cracks me up.

Anniversary is coming..

Posted by BenSpark on October 24, 2007

My 2nd anniversary is quickly approaching. I will be in Las Vegas until the day before and we have a new baby at home so a big night out is probably not in the cards this year. I would like to take Allison to see the play Wicked at some point however. I tried once to get Wicked tickets but was unsuccessful at finding a date that we could go see the show. Eventually we will see the show. I still need to go and read the book, but I hear that the two are different. I’d like to get up to speed either way.

So this year I think we will have a quiet evening at home or maybe a nice dinner out. We shall see.

TV Show: Bones: The Secret in the Soil

Posted by BenSpark on October 24, 2007

Last night’s episode of Bones brought Booth and Bones together to investigate a body that was found on the grounds of an abandoned VA hospital. For some reason I can’t believe that this show has had only 4 episodes this season so far. so much has happened.

Booth and Bones are in therapy and their Dr., Dr. Lance Sweet or Sweets as Booth calls him is played by John Francis Daley of Freaks and Geeks. These scenes were both enlightening and fun to watch. I just love watching Booth get all perturbed during therapy sessions. What happened to their previous Dr.? I miss him, he was a good doctor, however Sweets is very fun to watch.

The episode mentions the Widow’s son case and that just puts it back in our minds, however this case is not affiliated with that one. This case happened because of secrets and lies and assumptions.

An environmental food store mogul is found dead and badly decomposed. His core body temperature was 127 degrees and suggested that he was ‘cooked’ thus prompting Hodgins to suggest the “widow’s son” case. But it was quickly determined not to be the case.

I missed a couple parts because I was fixing the toilet but I heard them. Appropriately it was the part where Bones said to Booth, “He who smelt it dealt it.” I loved Booth’s reaction, “Why would you even know that?” Which to Bones fans is pretty funny because most slang or things of that nature are not at all part of the vernacular of Dr. Temperance Brennan. Just last week she learned that “Hay is for Horses”

This show continues to be one of my favorites as well as a favorite for my wife. We really enjoy the interaction between Booth and Bones. The tension between the two is very good and I like how they have not gotten together but it is there in the background all the time. Eventually they will get together, it is inevitable, you know, because it is TV.

Still nothing to do with Zack’s return and all. Waiting for that story.
